"Lastly, and up with the crème de la crème of the appellation, the 2016 Condrieu Chéry is about as textbook as it gets. Apricots, buttered citrus, flowers, and an undeniable minerality all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, layered, multi-dimensional beauty that carries tons pure fruit, yet stays balanced and pure. Bravo!"

Remi Niero Estate
It is on terraced hillsides that the Domaine Niero harvests the best grapevines of Viognier and Syrah to offer unique vintages of Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie.
Culture ways:
Caring about environment, your wine grower has resorted to thoughtful working methods in the vineyard so as to develop a responsible wine growing . Moreover, aware of the need to adapt his culture policies, he has recently resorted to organic farming.
Date Founded: 1973
Now at the head of the vineyard , Rémi Niero has taken over from his father Robert, who, from Rémi’s early age, has passed on to him his whole know-how and passion for wine growing. The latter had taken over a small vineyard from his father-in-law Jean Pinchon in 1985, planting and working hard in those “chaillets” to make one of the most beautiful landscapes of our shared patrimony look more beautiful. Despite the requirement of this soil, his efforts have been rewarded by the authentic and natural balance of the wines.
To honor his masters Robert and Jean, Rémi offers his new vintage « Héritage» ,which is particularly faithful to the know-how and identity of the domain. Taken from the selection of the most beautiful casks of Condrieu, it will charm your taste buds and those of your guests.
Remi Niero Côte-Rôtie vineyard:
History:
It is one of the oldest vineyards in France. The Romans developed it and later, during the Middle-Age, a legend says that Lord Maugiron shared his good between his two daughters, one brown-haired and the other blond-haired,hence the names that the wines have kept , Côte Brune and Côte Blonde. Côte-Rôtie is the domain of the Syrah vine, which is broad and manly. A small place has been given to Viognier (20 % maximum allowed in the blend) which can bring a more feminine note.
Soils and climate:
The vine is harvested on grape-pickers’ backs on very steep granitic hillsides called “chaillets”, hold back by stone walls. The climate is the same than in the Condrieu vineyard. Rémi and Robert Niero’s Côte-Rôtie comes from two parcels over two hectares : La Viallière and Le Côteau de Bassenon (the southernmost parcel of the label).

"A deep, rich and mineral-laced style of Condrieu, Niero’s 2014 Condrieu Chéry is loaded with notions of apple blossom, honeyed tangerine, smoke and citrus. Coming all from the famed granite soils of the Chéry lieu-dit (which is one of the top terroirs in Condrieu and consist of mostly 50- to 80-year-old vines), this medium to full-bodied beauty has plenty of mid-palate depth, good acidity and a focused, yet lengthy feel on the palate. Aged 12 months in 60% stainless steel and 40% in oak, it’s a terrific success in this less than straightforward vintage.- Jeb Dunnuck"

Brilliant
yellow-gold. Powerful peach, melon and tangerine aromas, backed by floral and
honey nuances. Silky and open-knit, showing very good heft and thrust to the
juicy citrus and pit fruit flavors. Rich yet lively thanks to a core of acidity
that drives a long, ginger-accented finish. Textbook Condrieu, and the type I'd
drink with decadent foods, like sweetbreads or Veal Oscar. Blue cheeses would
also work well.-Tanzer 93 Points

"A selection of the best individual barrels/cuves, the 2016 Condrieu Heritage is drawn from the estate's oldest vines (around 70 years old), aged in stainless steel (60%) and barrel (40%). It's textbook floral, apricot aromas lead into a medium to full-bodied wine that manages to be rich and viscous without being cloying, as citrus zest and brine emerge on the long finish. - Joe Czerwinski"

"Coming from a who’s who of vineyards (Roncharde, Côte Chatillon, La Caille, Vergelas, Corbéry and Chéry) and brought up in a mix of stainless steel and French oak, the 2016 Condrieu Héritage boasts an exotic, perfumed bouquet of wildflowers, honeysuckle, liquid rock and ripe tangerines. With medium-bodied richness and a crisp, balanced, beautifully fresh style, it just sings of pure Viognier (and Condrieu) and is a great white to drink over the coming 4-6 years."

"The 2018 Condrieu Les Ravines is the largest production cuvée and spent 12 months in 40% barrels and 60% in stainless steel. Its light gold color is followed by a balanced, rounded, sexy Condrieu that has impressive notes of white peach, honeyed minerality and white flowers. It's clean, straight, beautifully balanced, and just a classic Condrieu." - Jeb Dunnuck (The Northern Rhône: 2017 and 2018, December 2019), 91 pts

Pale gold.
Heady, mineral-laced citrus and orchard fruit aromas, along with a sexy floral
overtone that gains strength as the wine opens up. Silky, focused and seamless
on the palate, offering intense orange, pear, white peach and bitter quinine
flavors that show excellent depth as well as energy. The floral note reemerges
on the strikingly long, penetrating finish, which leaves behind a sweet peach
nectar note. - Tanzer 93 Points

Philippe Milan Pommard AOC is 100% Pinot Noir
This wine has been aged in Oak (25% new Oak)
This is a little more structured and the style goes more toward the
"vin de garde", or wines meant to age. This wine needs some food, or sometime
in the decanter right now. It is well structured and reminds me of a Volnay. As
a matter of fact, the parcel is located right next to Volnay. The finish is
long and still quite juicy with chewy tannins lingering.
Tenuta di Arceno Valadorna is made from 65% Merlot 19% Cabernet Sauvignon 11% Cabernet Franc 5% Petit Verdot.
This Merlot-led blend is sourced primarily from the Valadorna and Capraia blocks, which produce the estate’s most complex and mineral-based expressions of this variety. The blocks are located within the cooler part of the estate, naturally irrigated by the stream that undulates through it, and feature sandy brown soils and lower yields than typical. These blocks are often the last Merlot blocks to ripen on the estate.
The 2015 vintage was almost perfect for growing wine. The winter was wet, storing vital groundwater for the warmer months ahead. Bud break at the end of March was followed by ideal weather for flowering which produced a perfect crop size. The summer was dry and warm with plenty of sunshine, but not in excess. Necessary rainfall arrived in the first weeks of August without any other rain events until October, creating ideal conditions for harvest. This will be a vintage to remember for its opulence and elegance. In warm years like 2015, Merlot shows its soft, savory and slightly racy character.
The wine exhibits hig-toned aromas of ripe black cherries, vanilla bean and cedar. With bright acidity, the wine expands quickly on the palate. Plush tannins carry through the center with a fine, tingling finish. The palate shows flavors of tart cherry pie, dried red berries and black licorice, with a long finish of white pepper, dusty roses and stony minerality.
Review:
The 2015 Valadorna (65% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot) is a dark and thickly endowed red wine that boasts a rich and lasting grip on the palate. The bouquet offers depth and complexity with dark fruit, leather, cured tobacco and spice. There are also softer notes of chocolate and ground espresso beans. The wine's seamless integration of flavors leads to increased momentum and intensity as the wine continues to open in the glass.- Wine Advocate 95 Points
