Review:

"Bright, green-tinged straw. Fresh melon and nectarine scents are enlivened by suggestions of honey, chamomile and candied orange. Fleshy, expansive and dry, offering juicy pit fruit and melon flavors and a subtle touch of succulent herbs. Smoothly combines heft and vivacity and finishes long, seamless and floral, displaying a lingering hint of poached pear. - Josh Raynolds"

Review:

"The 2014 Lirac Cuvee de La Reine des Bois is an incredible effort that transcends the vintage and is easily the wine of the vintage from Lirac. Possessing fabulous purity and elegance, with medium to full-bodied richness, classic notes of crème de cassis, caramelized meats, violets and licorice, sweet tannin and a great finish, I doubt it will be the longest lived example of this cuvée, but man, hats off to the team for this killer wine in a difficult vintage! - Jeb Dunnuck"

Mordoree Tavel Rose Les Vestides 2015

Mordoree Tavel Rose Les Vestides is made from 60% Grenache, 30% Cinsault and 10% Syrah.

This wine is very similar in style to the Dame Rousse Cuvée. The main difference is that it is made from grapes not certified organic yet. The parcel is currently being converted to Organic after Domaine de la Mordorée acquired it in 2013. It will take 3 years total to become certified organic and it might be integrated in the Dame Rousse in the future.

The second difference is that the soil type is slightly different. In the Dame Rousse, the soils is composed of Quartz round pebbles on the Villafranchienne terrace of Vallongue. For the Vestides, the soils is made of flat limestome rocks, originating from the Berremien crumbled hill-stones.

Steady pink, brilliant and limpid color. Very complex nose with flowers, red and white fruits aromas. Round, full bodied with a long lasting aniseed and fruity finish.

Food pairing: cold meat and delicatessen, poultry, white meats, grilled meats, fried fish, fish soup, pastas, pizzas and all Asian cuisine.

Reviews:

"One of the wines of the vintage is easily the 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape Le Reine des Bois. Mostly Grenache (there’s a fair chunk of Mourvedre and Syrah) that’s raised in a combination of stainless steel and barrels, it offers tons of graphite and crushed rock to go with background blackberry, leather and pepper. Ripe, unctuous and fabulously concentrated, this beautiful Chateauneuf can be drunk today with incredible pleasure, or cellared for a decade. - Jeb Dunnuck"

- Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Issue 221, October 2015), 94 pts

"The 2013 Cuvée de la Reine des Bois instantly opens with aromas of ripe black raspberries and dark plums, which are woven together with smoke, floral, pepper and a meaty character. This continues to impress on the palate with its rich velvety texture which is cut through by a lovely layer of underlying acidity providing a sense of freshness as it heads into the long finish. This can be approached early, but this Cuvée will also continue to develop with some additional bottle age. (Best 2016-2025) - J.D."

Reviews:

Full ruby. Powerful, smoke-accented boysenberry and black raspberry on the perfumed nose. Broad and fleshy on the palate, offering bitter cherry, dark berry and licorice flavors that gain spiciness and energy with aeration. Shows very good thrust and breadth on the dark-fruit-dominated finish, which is firmed by broad, mounting tannins. In a substantial style but not lacking for vivacity. - Vinous 91-93 Points

More pure, focused and elegant than the La Belle Voyageuse cuvee, the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvee de la Reine des Bois is reminiscent of the 2006 with it’s beautiful fruit, medium to full-bodied richness, and solid overall concentration and length. Made from 75% Grenache, 14% Mourvèdre, 7% Syrah and 2% each of Counoise and Vaccarese, it saw a 30-day maceration and aging in 70% stainless steel tanks and 30% in barrels. It should be one of the earlier drinking vintages for this cuvée, yet it will still have 10-15 years of overall longevity (which is saying something in this vintage). - Wine Advocate 92-94 Points

"A big, ripe, textured beauty that stays fresh and lively on the palate, the medium pink colored 2015 La Remise de la Mordoree Rose gives up classic Tavel-like notes of framboise, flowers and ripe strawberries. It's a no brainer purchase to buy by the case. - Jeb Dunnuck"

- Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (May 2016), 90 pts

Very light garnet. Showing notes of ripe strawberry and a hint of rhubarb, this is a full-flavored, yet dry rosé with rich extract on a long finish. With good structure and complex, somewhat earthy flavors, this is the rare rosé that may provoke discussion. A 50/50 blend of Marselean and Merlot grown using biodynamic methods. -IWR 90 Points
