In the Sicily's centre, in Enna, joining-place for the trader,
they opened during the forties, a wide wine cellar called "Funnicu" where the carters would stop and where one could commercialize and taste the wine.
The brothers Salvatore and Biagio Nicosia , undertook this activity for many years till when one concluded the age of carters and they continued the activity in their built–up area. In the sixties, Salvatore'son, Carmelo, increased the activity, purchased small pieces of round in Roccazzo and he continued the production till when his sons, Guglielmo and Salvatore,
the currents owners with their father, planned the restructuring of the old wine-farm.
Insolia or Ansonica: ancient vine of Sicily, it has been no doubt the prince of the Sicilian cellars, before Sicily became earth of election of the great red wines of native grapes and from international grapes. This splendid grape, grape wine's daughter, resistent to the drought, and it growed in Sicily always and it spreaded in the course of centuries also in Sardinia ,in Elba Island and Giglio Island, thanks to Greeks merchants. The Insolia express the best itself, with hot and airy climates, vinificated in pureness, give full-bodied wines and wines of long ageing, but today the tendency is that of combine-it to grape of out place of origin for example the Chardonnay and together with native grapes to make wines of distinct international flavor but that at the same time, express a strong sicilian connotation ;moreover it belongs to composition of nine Sicilian D.O.C wine. The Insolia is straw-yellow colored with green hues, spacious and subtle bouquet, with good intensity; in the flavor result full-bodied,of great structure, in particular are very appreciated the fresh sensations of the Insolia, in harmony with the traces of fruit dry. Today, the secret adopted by Mortilla agrarian farm is select rigorously the grapes them turn originated from a valuable particulary clone "the Dama Sciandone" ,and treat the native wines, as just the Insolia, in the same manner of that internationals and noblest wine.

Domaine Jean Grivot Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is made from 100 percent Pinot Noir.
Domaine Jean Grivot is among the great names in Burgundian wine. Étienne Grivot and his wife Marielle took over from Étienne’s father Jean Grivot in 1987. The vineyards are densely planted and farmed organically “sans certification” while the aim in the cellar is for balance and clear expression of terroir.
Jean Grivot’s 38.3 acres spread across 22 appellations with vineyards in the communes of Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, Chambolle-Musigny, and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Besides the three grand crus, there are 8 premier crus including the much lauded Les Beaux Monts and Suchots in Vosne-Romanée. The grapes are completely de-stemmed and fermentation is spontaneous.
About the Vineyard:
Clos de Vougeot grand cru was acquired by Étienne’s grandfather, Gaston Grivot, in 1919. The total holding is 4.6 acres from the middle of the vineyard to the lower wall and the average vine age is 40 years old. A good Clos de Vougeot should be a complete wine without any one feature standing out. It is a perfect balance of power, aroma, and flavor.
Wine Production:
The grapes are destemmed and maceration à froid usually lasts just a day or two. The alcoholic fermentation is spontaneous and malolactic fermentation occurs in barrel. Depending on the vintage, the proportion of new oak is around 40-70% percent for the grands crus.
Tasting Notes:
The wine shows aromas and flavors of red berries, herbs, and purple flowers. The palate is rich with ripe fruit and medium weight with bright acidity and fine tannins. Aging in 40-70% new Burgundian pièce brings notes of vanilla, toast, and baking spices.
Food Pairing:
Red Burgundy might be the world’s most flexible food wine. The wine’s high acidity, medium body, medium alcohol, and low tannins make it very food-friendly. Red Burgundy, with its earthy and sometimes gamey character, is a classic partner to roasted game birds, grilled duck breast, and dishes that feature mushrooms, black truffles, or are rich in umami.
Review:
This round version is packed with ripe black cherry, violet, graphite and tobacco flavors. The silky texture and vibrant acidity work in tandem, while refined tannins provide support without getting in the way. There are a few edges to be worked out, yet this is long and concentrated.

Long Shadows Cymbal Sauvignon Blanc is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
Tasting notes: Wonderfully vibrant and aromatic, with notes of lemongrass, passion fruit and a hint of honeysuckle. Flavors of mango, fresh herbs and white peach, come together seamlessly across a textured palate and lengthy finish.
Over the years, Gilles and Allen have experimented with small quantities of uniquely styled wines for their personal and family enjoyment. A few of these wines became too good not to share with their “extended family”, including the Cymbal Sauvignon Blanc.
Sauvignon Blanc from three distinct vineyards combined to give this wine its wonderful vibrancy and complex flavor profile. Gamache Vineyard (planted in 1985) is located on a gently sloping hillside in close proximity to the Columbia River. The site benefits from the cooling effect of the river to give the wine fresh acidity. Boushey Vineyard also contributes liveliness and lemongrass character. Bacchus Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc (planted in 1972) is a warmer site, producing a riper style wine that provides a distinct passion fruit character to the
finished blend.
